Lisa Barger Bras Causing Breast Parasites--Is It True?
Parasites from Bras? Nah.
“Are those pictures of women who got worms in their breasts from trying on bras at the store for real?”No, they’re not real. Not only is the story completely untrue; the photos themselves were faked.
This hoax, which has actually been going around the internet since about 2003, claims that women are “catching” larvae, worms or some other parasites after trying on bras and swimsuits. And the websites that spread these ridiculous stories often use a very graphic photo to illustrate the point.
But, as we very quickly found out, it’s a complete and utter myth that’s been debunked by several debunking websites, including Snopes.
We’re not going to show the photo because it is very disturbing but it looks to us as though someone took a photo of a woman’s breast and merged it with a photo of a mature seed pod from some sort of lotus. (You can see a good photo of the seed pod here.)
While most of us would agree that washing undergarments before wearing them is a good idea; there’s just no truth to the idea that women all over America are getting “parasites” from bras.
