Lisa Barger Recall, Allergy Alert for Kale Chips
Logo Generously Provided by Rhythm SuperfoodsRhythm Superfoods, a company which makes kale-based snack chips, has issued a recall and allergy alert for its Kool Ranch flavored chips after a manufacturing error put the chips in bags that did not declare the presence of tree nuts on their labels. In a statement Rhythm Superfoods said that a recent tweak of its packaging accidentally left cashews off the chips’ ingredient list and the mistake was not caught until the bags had already been shipped to stores. Rhythm Superfoods says that it has received 1 report of an allergic reaction associated with the mis-labeled snacks.
All the recalled chips will have the SKU/UPC of 8 29739 00052 1 but the sell-by date codes will vary. Out of an abundance of caution, as Rhythm Superfoods puts it, they’re recalling products spanning 6 codes—just to be sure. Those codes are:
- 03/26/12
- 03/27/12
- 03/28/12
- 04/03/12
- 04/04/12
- 04/10/12
Rhythm Superfoods was founded in 2009. Their chips are made using a special air-drying process that the company says preserves the natural enzymes. Rhythm Superfoods’ founder is Keith Wahrer. You may know him better as the guy behind Daily Juice.
