Search Our Site:

Our privacy statement is almost painfully simple:  We absolutely will not share your information with any 3rd party, send you unsolicited emails or add you to any newsletter lists unless you specially ask us to.

What This Site Knows About Your Visits

Like all other web sites, this site collects basic information about its visitors.  For instance, we know how many people visit us each day and we have a fairly accurate idea of how they get to our site.  We can tell if you link in from another page or if you type our URL into your address bar.  If you find us through a search engine, we can usually tell what search terms you used to find us.

We also know just a little about your computer.  We can tell how many of our visitors use Macs and how many use PCs.  We can sometimes tell, through the use of extremely common computer files known as a “cookies” how many of our visitors are “repeat” visitors and how many are first-timers.

Why We Collect This Information

Like other web sites, we use this information to tailor our site to our readers.  For instance, we know that a growing number of our readers are coming to us via “smartphones”.  Consequently, we redesigned our site to use a format that should scale down nicely for small screens.

We also know that more and more of our readers are using social networking sites like Digg and FaceBook.  That’s why we’ve added “Share This” buttons at the bottom of most of our articles.

But we also know that many of our readers are still using dial-up internet providers.  That’s why we’ve removed nearly all the photos.

Bottom line—collecting basic information about the technology you use to visit us helps better serve you.

But Basically, You’re Pretty Anonymous

But that’s about it.  We never see your name or any files on your computer.  We never, ever have access to your email address (unless, of course, you share it us in the contact form) and we can’t “see” your phone number or address.

The Bottom Line

LisaBarger.com has always maintained one of the toughest privacy policies on the ‘net.  We don’t make you give us your email address or sign up for a newsletter to use any part of our site.  You can remain as anonymous as you like while visiting here.
